iPhoto 2.0.1

I'm currently using iPhoto 2.0.1 and it's dreadfully slow, that slow I'm afraid to open it everytime and everything turns just a little darker when it's opened. I have a photo collection of over 14000 pictures I think, and I recently took out all the pictures of 2002-2004 just because it was too slow.

If, iPhoto in the iLife '05 package is fast enough I might consider buying it. The 2.0.1 version is not the iLife '04 version, it's the version that came standard with my Powerbook I think, or the version I downloaded from the Apple website a long time ago.

People already told me the iPhoto in the previous iLife package was a lot better but I never believed em, I've seen it run still too slow so I figured I'd wait for an upgrade. Well that upgrade is here now, so is iPhoto faster? Finally?

I'm using iPhoto on my Powerbook, with 1024 Mb of memory. So that's not the issue.

Thanks in advance,
Frederik-Jan

iPhoto 2 was rather slow, which Steve Jobs addressed last year when Apple released iLife '04. Steve showed how iPhoto 4 could work with up to 25,000 photos with ease (presumably on a dual 2 Ghz G5 at the time). And iPhoto 5 is supposed to be even faster; if it's mission critical, an upgrade is in your best interest.
