iPhoto and cpu 98% ?

I installed iLife 06' last weekend and now iPhoto hogs 98% of the cpu. Opens very slowly and when pictures are clicked, the whirly rainbow thingy stays on for a long time then freezes everything. Even force quiting is slow.
Any ideas?

How much RAM do you have on that Mac? Also, make sure you're not running any apps in the background (usually indicated by a black triangle under the application icon on the Dock....just Ctrl-Click on the icon and select to Quit....remember that closing an app's window doesn't necessarily quit the application).
