Is there any way that I can move pictures from one roll to another (Sister’s pictures from a roll that has both College pictures and Sister’s pictures to one that has all her pictures only) and/or merge rolls (all College related rolls).

I would like a drag-‘n drop way, but at this point I’m willing to do it any way possible!

Yeah, I know – that’s what albums are for, but this drives me nuts! Even with real pictures ‘n negatives I move them around to other envelopes of related stuff! :p

I have a solution, but this is not very light.

1) Export you pictures to any folder you like
2) Import these again, when you import your files, bring them (select, drag and drop) in iPhoto all at the same time to create a single roll.

Otherwise, you can play with the Albums that are made for that purpose.
 
I tried that, and other than messing up the dates I wouldn't mind doing it - if it wasn't for the fact that I'll be taking more pictures at college, cars, sister, family, friends, etc... and I don't want to have to export and reimport entire rolls every time. blah :p

I do use the albums, but I don't add all the pictures that the rolls have for certain reasons depending on what I'm doing with that album.

The main problem I have seen is when publishing in HomePage, if two pictures from different rolls have the same name (like 17_20.jpg), then the second one overwrites the first one, and apears twice in the page.
 
How can I create another film roll without importing? I did it the way the manual states but the Create Film Roll from the menu pulldown is always ghosted. How can I enable this?
 
You CAN just drag and drop photos from one roll to another. Just select the photos you want to move, and drag them to the "roll name", not the pane that opens showing the photos, the "name" of the roll. For instance if you want to move photos to Roll 52, drop them on the name "Roll 52", not the viewing pane. Also, I rename all my rolls to better reflect what is in them. Makes it much easier to keep track of them!
 
I've done the drag & drop thing but I need more rolls. I only have 3. I don't have any more to import & I would like rolls t ohelp with the organizing. Does your "Create Roll" work from the pulldown after selecting some pics from the library (as the manual states) ?
