iPhoto library disappeared from iMAC os

Somehow my iPhoto library has disappeared from my iMAC. When I use finder, I can not locate any of my 8,000 photos. I had folders and albums but everything just disappeared. Please help!
 
They should be located in /Users/[yourusername]/Pictures. Probably called "iPhoto Library" or something very similar. Of course, "[yourusername]" is your user account's short user name.

You can try and open this library by launching iPhoto while you hold down the 'option' key (also called the 'alt' key), then navigating to this directory and selecting the library when prompted.
