Iphoto Not Showing Files In Iphoto Library

We tried to export photos to DVD to back up our iPhoto library. The first attempt failed, and when we relaunched iPhoto all of the rolls we tried to back up were gone.

I checked the iPhoto Library and all the images were there, looking properly organized.

We then tried to rebuild the iPhoto Library. We checked the bottom two boxes,

The mac then chewed for about 30 minutes and added one
"roll" with about 700 photos - none of the original rolls were there.

What is weird, is that a smart directory, everything before 12.31.04 shows all the photos we tried to back up.

So, how do we rebuild, and get back the roll structure that is in the library?

I have a very similar problem- all the photos are in the directory system, but iphoto does not seem to recognize them. Please help!
 
In iPhoto click HELP --> Solving Problems.

If that doesn't give you the answer, come back with your OS version and iPhoto version details.

Please state precisely how? What buttons/menu options did you use? What error message did you see?
