iPhoto not working for Standard Users

I am a standard user on my dad's iMac. (he's the administrater.) We both use the same digital camera and when he's in his account and plugs it in, iPhoto instantly recognizes it and he can import his photos. But if I'm on my account and want to import my photos, it won't recognize the same camera! We've checked to see if it was plugged in right and everything, and it is. Even though I'm set to NO LIMITS, I still can import my photos! Please help!:eek:

(P.S. I also can't print from my account on the same printer my dad uses on his, or have access to the other tabs besides BASIC in Appleworks!)
 
yes I did and iPhoto still would not recognize it.

P.S. I just noticed this: when I plug in my camera and turn it to Memory mode (like I always do) when I click on the MS (Memory Sticky-sony cameras) One icon in the desktop, the file MEMSTICK.IND has a little lock at the bottom corner, while it doesn't when I open it on my dad's account. HMMM...
