iPhoto problems (Permissions related?)

I downloaded iPhoto on the day it was announced and haven't been able to get certain features to work:

1) The crop function doesn't work at all: I can select an area but hitting the crop button only removes the selection without actually cropping (no error message is given).

2) I'm in Canada and maybe that has something to do with it, but every time I try to enable the 1-Click shopping, the response is "The changes to your account information could not be saved. Please try again later".

Could this be Permissions related? I haven't seen any posts about this anywhere.

Luis.

You sure wouldn't think that permissions would be involved since iPhoto saves stuff in your own home directory.

Now you being Canadian--there's a major offense. Computers can tell that sort of thing you know... JK =)

Problems fixed thanks to these 2 items over at Macfixit:

1) Read-only media remains read-only? Not unexpected perhaps, but Jeramia Ory found that "importing from a read-only medium (in my case Picture CD's) into iPhoto results in photos that can't be edited. Copying the pictures to the hard drive first and then importing seems to address the problem." This solved the first problem, which WAS permissions related (in a way).

2) 1-Click fails? A work-around Julian Koh could not get 1-Click Ordering to work. Others have reported this as well. Julian states: "It may be at least partly caused if your AppleID is linked to an ADC account. The new one I created is not, and it now works."

See my answer in the "How to crop" thread for doing the same directly from the Terminal window in one chmod instruction
