My Mac crashed earlier and when I opened itunes and iphoto, i had to import all the music from the external hard drive again, and iphoto displays this message;

'The photo library was created with an unreleased version of iphoto.
Please quit and upgrade this library by opening it in iphoto 2 or iphoto 4'

I tried the upgrade on the iphoto apple website, but it still wont open. It was working fine before it crashed.

It crashed when I unplugged a USB cable for my modem.
And displayed the message about serious system crash in several languages.

I’m running 10.4.7 with all the latest updates installed.

Any help gratefully appreciated.

I had exactly the same problem! Same cause as well (unplugging the USB cable). I am using iphoto 5. Please help.

Atlast yipee,found a way for this. Go to the photo library and drag and drop it into the desktop. Now, open Iphoto, it would open, then update it first. After that open the photo library from the desktop with Iphoto and a new library would be created. Just do it for all the rolls in the earlier Iphoto and you would have your photos back.

That never was the problem, I think. You can _always_ simply let iPhoto reimport the photos. The problem is: You lose the slideshows information etc.
