iPhoto won't load photos from library

I moved my iPhoto library to my external HD(8.5GB worth!) and changed the default location by selected 'choose library' and navigating to the new location. The library won't load any of the photos or albums so I rebuilt the library by quitting and holding down option, alt, shift keys. The library rebuilt but only bought back half the photos without the albums.
I deleted the iphoto library from the pictures folder and recopied with the same error, this time the bar showed it was scanning and reading the photos but they still didn't come up in the library.
Also quit iphoto, deleted iphoto preferences restarted iphoto and re-navigated to the library without any success.
Also tried overwriting the priveleges and unlock any files with BatChod 1.37 with no success.

Help! Any ideas???

Sorry you're having troubles. The only thing I can think of at this point is a picture recovery utility, and I'm not sure what exists to recover from corrupted iPhoto libraries. Have you googled? I'm not being much help, but I replied because no one had yet. Ok, Googled . . . > Look into FileJuicer. <

By the way, next time you can create a reasonably quick backup (if you have HD space) by right-clicking on your iTunes Library and selecting "Archive". You'll have a zip'd backup of your library.

Good luck

I'm having the same problem on my eMac. I have iPhoto 2.0.1. The library was accidently moved to another folder, but when I moved it back to the picture folder, nothing showed up in iPhoto. I opened the iPhoto library folder and all the albums were listed, and inside were picture files. I tried moving a saved iPhoto library folder into the picture folder, and again, nothing happened. The pictures are apparently there, but iPhoto won't load them.
Anyone have any ideas on how to solve this aside from importing all the pictures without names or albums? I'd like to save the information I had, and not just the pictures.

I found and answer. Launch iPhoto while holding down the command(Apple key)plus the option key. This will bring up a dialog box asking you to "rebuild" your iPhoto Library (along with other rebuilds). This may help.
