After successfully downloading 15 photos from my digital camera, I received an error message that says, "The following files could not be imported (they may be unrecognized file type or the files may not contain valid data)" and then lists about 25 jpg files that can't be opened. Is there any way I can import them from my camera to iphoto?

It sounds like the files may be corrupted for some reason. When you connect your camera, it will appear as a drive on your desktop. You can manually copy the files from this drive onto your Mac, and then try and open the files. If they seem to work OK, try dragging the files into iPhoto.
