ipod classic not mounting in itunes

I have a 20gb b&w screen ipod classic. I believe I need to reboot it but I cannot get it to mount in iTunes in order to do this. For the moment, it is mounting on my MacBook Pro desktop only.

Is there a way to force it to mount in iTunes or reformat the iPod with a diskutility on my Mac?

Any suggestions?
 
Can't you do a restore from the MacBook Pro? Then, after the restore procedure, plug it back into the computer that isn't "seeing" it to see if it does see it after the restore?
