ipod itunes syncing troubles

I have a 60 Gig Ipod Photo. When attempting to sync with Itunes everything works fine unless I also check "sync" with Iphoto i get "unknown error (-50)". Ipod support had me just initailize my ipod and start over, which worked until i tried to have it update Iphoto as well. I only have 1.5 gigs of pictures in Iphoto and 27 gigs available. To really throw a wrentch at you it will upload pictures if a folder source is choosen instead of iphoto. Any thoughts?
 
Version of iTunes, version of iPhoto, version of Mac OS X? (It's not that I'd know of a specific bug in a specific version of either, but it always helps supporting. Plus: I'd update any of the products to the newest versions if you haven't tried that already.)
 
Itunes 7.02. 10.4.8 and IPhoto 5. The Iphoto may be the problem as I am approaching 3000 pics. I jsut hate to buy the new Ilife just for such a sub-par Photo suite when a new one will be out early '07
