Ipod not showing up in Explorer

Hello All...
I have a new IPOD that does not show up in Windows Explorer, despite having selected the 'show hidden files and folders option'.
The ipod works normally with itunes.
When the ipod is plugged in, it shows up as G: and then the icon disappears. The problem persists on all the USB ports.
Please help.

if it works in itunes, but not win explorer, then its not set up to be an external drive. you need to goto the ipod tab of itunes prefs, with the ipod plugged in, and turn disk mode on. now it will show up in win explorer.
