iPod question

Can I transfer mp3 from the iPod to the Mac ?
Elsewhere I read that you can't move mp3 songs of your iPod to your Mac (pirate protection), so if I want to save some space (say 10-15 Gb of music) on my Mac I can't to it because of this iPod limitation?

Is it true?

It seems so stupid to have the same songs (it can be 20-30 Gb) on the iPod and on the Mac...

you CAN transfer your music from ipod to your mac, but not with itunes. search on versiontracker, e.g. ipod viewer is a freeware application that does it.

Lots of threads and links on the subject here as well. Also check to see if the app allows for aac pullback as some of the earlier iPod managers didn't allow for that. Many of the newer ones do. Also, if you have any audible.com content, it won't pull back, so you'd need to redownload those books.
