iPod will not stay on desktop....

Every time I plug in the iPod to my computer - it automatically uploads and updates all the songs from iTunes, but will not stay on desktop. Should I take it off of "automatically update" or will that not help?

with your ipod plugged in, goto itunes>preferences>ipod and tell it to use disk mode. now it will stay on the desktop. but you will have to drag the ipod icon to the trash to eject it before you can unplug it.
