Is iBook's Airport Reception Really Better Than The Powerbook?

I have heard that the iBook's Airport's reception is better than a Powerbook because the plastic of an iBook doesn't screw it up like the aluminium of a Powerbook.

Is there any credit to this? Or is this an old flaw that has been remedied?

Thanks for any reply that may come

Yes, from my experience the iB's have better Airport reception then the PB's.

For example, in my APT my iB's Airport signal is ALWAYS full on (4 bars). With my PB it fluxuates from 4 to 3 bars.

My guess, it has to do with the Plastic housing of the iB VS. the aluminum housing of the PB --- but who know.

Anyone out there?

Peace!

Any way to physically improve a powerbook's Airport reception? Think I saw somewhere that there is a small external antenna available.

There is a Hack where you can substitute a Custom Pigtail and External Antenna for the in-built Antenna. The Pigtail is run out of the PCMCIA slot, so one of your slots is inaccessible. a second PCMCIA WiFi card is a more practical option.
It is also possible with the iBook and 12" Powerbook, but involves cutting a hole in the case. Not a popular option.
