Is it possible to create a classic disk image instead of actually installing it?

I am the law!
Right now I have a 2GB partition for Classic, of which its using about 1GB. The other gig was intended for any classic applications or misc stuff that I might need. The thing is, I havn't used classic in like 2 years....

I would like to reformat my drive as one partition, but I know as soon as I ditch classic, I'll need it for something. Installing classic on the same volume as OSX is out of the question.

So my question is, is it possible to create a disk image that I can mount and run classic from [within OSX of course, not on its own]?

Something I've noticed in regards to the linked post above.

If you haven't run classic recently, but have installed a recent OS X update (10.2.4), you will be prompted to install Classic updates to your System Folder. If your disk image is write protected, then it will not be able to install the updates. This will prevent Classic from starting properly. Make sure to run Classic once, and set it up the way you like before creating a disk image. Otherwise, you may try to make your disk image r/w. That worked for me.

I plan to use a .dmg file or somthing similar...i wasnt going to burn it to a CDR though that is a good idea.

As long as the dmg has extra space allocated to it, it should be able to make the updates.

Running anything off a CD would be really slow, certainly using a dmg file would be the way to go if you can spare the space
