is it possible to use the synchronisation feature of idisk separately?

I would llike to be able to synchronise data directly between two machines, without going via the iDisk (for this purpose it only adds delay and counts against my ISP quota usage).

Any clues as to if/how this might be possible?

I do remember reading an article once from somebody who had set up a WebDAV server on a local network, then with a bit of trickery on the DNS server redirected all iDisk traffic to this server. In this way, he was able to setup a network of 50 Macs to use backup to this server, rather than using iDisk.
However, hacking around in this way is not the ideal solution for a network of two Macs, as it requires a fair bit of knowledge and skill. You would be better off using some other method than iDisk/Apple Backup.
