Is USB 2.0 Faster than Firewire?

Can someone tell me if this is correct? USB 2.0 is 40 times faster than USB 1.1 and firewire is 33 times faster than 1.1?

Also, can somebody tell me if my iMac G3 (Graphite - see in my signature) has USB 1.1 or 2.0?
 
USB 2.0 is faster, in theory, than FireWire 400. FireWire is rated at 400 Mbit/sec; USB 2.0 at 480 Mbit/sec. However (also on PCs) USB 2.0 uses more processor time than FireWire, so USB tends to bog down in heavy use. Real world tests often show FireWire with better performance.
 
Firewire also has better "sustained" speeds, such as writing/reading large/many files or CD/DVDs.
