iSub and Garageband

I was playing around with Garageband the other day and went to play some of the sample tracks and loops etc. I initially had my iSub attached and it sounded awful, very distorted and crappy. I turned down the output to the iSub but no change. I turned it off and the apple pro speakers sounded great themselves just without the extra bass of course.

Has anyone else had an issue like this with Garageband and the iSub? or with any other software?
Was there a solution?

Yes, after using the iSub for about 3 years Im finding that USB sound devices SUCK! Ive had so many problems with it...
