A Mac New Guy
Just got an iTrip for Christmas. Pretty cool. At first it was very staticky but that was because I had the volume up too high.
Anyway, post anything you want to about the Griffin iTrip-old or new verison.

It's a little finicky. Mine doesn't settle into the iPod perfectly sometimes, so the LED doesn't activate. Other small issues, some probably user error also happen (like when the station playlist keeps hunting even though it's already found a station).

However, I love how it seems smart enough to remember to connect to the last station when you get back in your car. I also think it sounds great. Better than I expected. Very nice and full. However, the FM transcoding enhances any artifacts in your MP3s or AAcs, so you'll want to encode at the highest quality for prime FM listening. In general though it sounds quite good.

For my money (a measly $35) there is nothing better. Those cassette adapters? Puhleez. Also known as: How to destroy the aesthetics of an iPod in one easy step.

Let's face it. Car stereo listening can only get so good given the ambient noise and impossible-to-solve acoustic issues. iTrip is a great product.

My friend and I made a bumper sticker for his car that says:

"This car is broadcasting on station --FM! Tune in Now!"

And I'm working on a website for it too, the portable radio station. We record news every-so-often on the iMac and put it onto the iPod to broadcast. We actually get people sitting next to us at stoplights comment on how great the show is. :D

Poo. I want an iPod/iTrip like him.

I love my iTrip too. I have a first generation one and it's still kicking even though it gets tossed around a lot. It works everywhere except for a two block stretch on the freeway where most 'not as strong' stations get jumbled due to some major outside interference or something. I use 87.5 and i think iTrip is the best FM transmitter EVER. I just really like the no batteries, no cords, no on/off switch. NICE. :D

When I first got the iTrip, I was puzzled because on the manual and in Macworld iit said that the light was supposed to be blue. Well mine was red. I found out that was the older verion, but even in the picture of the manual of the new iTrip, the light is blue. Is your light blue or not for the new version?

I use 97.3 here in manhattan, but we are going to drive to texasduring Christmas break, so I bet I will have to frequently change stations. That is the downside-searching for open stations. It might take a while. Of course, how else are you going to get good sound, though, right?

Mine is red too. I have to admit, I was thoroughly disappointed. I WANT BLUE!!!!

After I've had it for a while, I may just pop it open and replace the LED witha blue one.

I think I'm getting an iTrip for christmas - yes! Either that or an iPod case... My sister really should do a better job shopping.

The Station Finder is a nice touch in the US. Many Mac User groups have started threads on the best stations in various locales abroad as well.
Also, if you have a digital tuner, install the Japanese frequencies as well, and it gives you a few more options at the very extreme ends of the radio spectrum.
I get spotty performance in a car (lots of crowded stations where I live), but it works great at home with the stereo tuner and the radio in my study.

Most people dont have tape players in their cars anymore anyways I think by now most people who can afford iPods have cars that have cd decks.
