itunes 7 slowdown

I just installed iTunes 7, and it takes forever to update my iPod when I plug it in...wondered if there's a pref that I can change to stop it from doing this...

Are you sure that you're plugged into a USB 2.0 (non-hub) port? What kind of Mac are you using?
