iTunes: Crossfade with shuffle only?

is there an applet or a script or something that will turn on the crossfader when shuffle is turned on? crossfader's horrid when it's not (who wants Dark Side of the Moon with 12 seconds of crossfade on each track?), but really nice when it's shuffling...

i never use crossfader becuase i listen to albums as much i listen to random stuff, i'd like to use it though...
