iTunes File Management questions...

Guys, I have a question about how iTunes handles files.

If I copy some MP3's directly onto my HD from another source, and then
import those MP3's into iTunes... Will I have a copy fo the same MP3 files
in on the HD where I originally copied them, and also in the Music→iTunes folder
where iTunes seems to keep the references for all the music it plays?

I think I may have been mistakenly duplicating my music which is registered in
iTunes!

Ouch.

If this is true, to avoid this, all one needs to do is use iTunes Import directly
from the source right?

Depends on the Preferences you have set. If you have it setup to copy all music to your iTunes folder, then it will copy it there and that's what will show up in your iTunes library.
