Could someone tell me why the "join tracks" option in my itunes (4.6) is greyed out ??? i'm trying to join tracks on a store-bought cd and have the importer is set to AIFF encoder.. though it also didn't work with mp3 encoder or AAC encoder.. ?

any ideas ????

I didn't even know iTunes has a greyed-out option to 'join tracks'... Hmm...

You can only join tracks when you import them. It's basically telling iTunes, "Yeah, there are two tracks, but I want one file with no gap."

Open the "iTunes and Music Store help" thing from the Help menu within iTunes. Do a search for "join," then from the results, choose "Adding songs from CDs to your library" and read.

I'm doing things correctly.. and read the instructions before i posted.. unfortunately.. i wish i wasn't because for some reason, the "join cd tracks" option is not available to me.. it's greyed out

fyi.. this is a feature intended for cds that have a flow from one track to another.. very common among dance music dj mixed cds..

Something that confused me, when you select the tracks you don't TICK the tracks, you just click on the filename so the tracks turn blue. An example of doing this with pictures in shown in the Tips & Tricks section of iPod UK: http://www.ipod.org.uk

I use Itunes for all my audio books and some of the CDs in audio books have 99 tracks per disc. I have always used "Join Tracks" to make the 99 tracks into one track but since my ITunes upgraded itself to 8.0.2.20 this option is always "grayed out"

What happened??
