iTunes MP3 help

Hi. I have I tunes 3 on my iMac with 10.2 and I just got an mp3 cd player for my birthday. I attempted to make an mp3 cd using iTunes but about half the songs didn't get burned. After much investigation I realized that iTunes treated some of the files as QuickTime movies even though when i got info for them in the finder it called them MP3 music files. I realized that originally i had downloaded the songs onto my 7500 and converted them to movies so i could play them in quicktime because i didn't have the mp3 player that created them. My question is: is there a quick/easy way to convert quicktime movies into true MP3 files. Thanks a lot for your help.

Open movie, export soundtrack as AIFF 44.1/16 and feed iTunes with it (check the Import Prefs are set to MP3 conversion).

Never trust Finder file author/type info :)

In iTunes can't you select the files and then go to Advanced -> "Convert Selection to MP3"?

Or maybe I'm missing something here?
