iTunes shared libraies

Hi,

me and my wife are sharing iTunes music libraries on the same Mac but with different user accounts. To make my wife see my music library my user account has to be logged in and iTunes started. Otherwise my library won't show up on her's iTunes playlists. Is this really the best way to do it? Isn't it possible someway to share music libraries without the need of logging in several users and starting iTunes up?

This can be done several ways. You have to ask your self if you want your wife (or if she doesn't wants you to) to have full access (add & delete). The secret is where you point you iTunes Preferences->Advance Tab library preference. If you set it(the itunes Library Preference) to a drive/folder with full access privileges the both of you can have access to the same iTunes music while having just one iTunes Library (the Preference has to be set in both users profiles) file.

Look at Apple info page.

Yes, I've tried this and it work as described. It's not optimal though; the need of doing "Add folder to library" each time to have access to songs added to the library since the last time is not the way I'd like it. But I guess it's the way it works at present day. Or?
