iTunes won't update

I know that this is a bit odd, but my iTunes won't update to version 4.0.1. I had this problem a while back with QuickTime Player not updating also. The QuickTime 6.2 finally updated my QT Player, but the update before it never worked for me. Now the same thing is happening with iTunes, and I don't know what the problem is.

It seems that most people aren't too thrilled with this new update of iTunes, but the fact still remains for me that if I do want to update, it won't work.

I even deleted my old iTunes, installed it fresh from the installer. Then applied the update, and the version still says 4.0 (106).

Any ideas?

Update worked for me. Maybe you have some problem with rights. Run repair of rights from install disk and try updating again.

just go to www.apple.com/itunes

and download and install it directly.

I'm running repair disk permissions right now hopefully it will work.

I have downloaded the installers from apple's website, both iTunes 4 installer, and iTunes 4.0.1 update. But it did not solve the problem I am having. I'm trying out repairing the permissions. I'll try installing, and updating again after it is done.

Are you sure you want to install that and have library streaming disabled?
