I use my Ipod as an external hard drive via fire-wire port, so the little icon comes up on my desktop and I use it to back up etc,

I was playing around with the permission options that are highlighted from the (get info) option when right clicked,

I set them to no access to see if this would block people for using the folder options and it did but know I can get the option of read & write back…
I’m the only user of my notebook and am the assigned owner of my account…

I reset my computer and now the Ipod icon doesn’t even show up on the desktop also doesn’t show in the itunes software

I can’t really lose what’s on there….

With the iPod plugged in to the firewire port, reboot the computer.

If the icon still does not appear on the desktop, open Terminal.app

(Applications/Utilities/Terminal) and type cd /Volumes and press

return, then type ls -la and press return.

The iPod should show up in the list of mounted volumes - if it does show up,
type chmod 755 volume name (replace 'volume name' with the iPod filename).

The iPod should now show up on the desktop
