iWeb and 100webspace- Novice needing help

I am completely and utterly clueless as to how to create a webpage, but I am giving it a shot. It's not working out too well, though. I have used iWeb to create a site, saved it, and used the "file manager" on 100webspace to download it.

The website is www.highspeedcjb.com

It's not working out too well for me. When you go to the website, you get an "index" page, and even when you click on the welcome path, which should be the page I uploaded, it doesn't show the page, just a black background with a picture with the blue question mark box.

I'm sure I've done a number of things wrong, and could use some guidance.

Thanks!

It looks like you can actually simplify your process with just a little bit of info. There are directions on iwebfaq.org (here's the link) (scroll down to chapter 2) that will tell you how to use one of iWeb's built-in features to upload your site via FTP (file transfer protocol).

In the FTP Server settings, you should be able to enter 100webspace.net in the FTP server address box, then your username & password. You may have to contact 100webspace for more accurate FTP settings if this doesn't work when you hit the "Test Connection" button.

Congrats on trying to learn something new. Too few people are doing that these days. Once you get past the few technical things that one needs to know, iWeb is a great tool for creating a website. Just don't be daunted and don't give up!

Thank you! I'm starting to get somewhere now. I've got it to where when I go to www.highspeedcjb.com it goes directly to the welcome page. Unfortunately, the welcome page still isn't showing the images or text, just the black background and the question mark boxes.. I have iLife 06, so I used cyberduck per the instructions you linked to.

Hey there, it seems like you still don't have the whole contents of the site up, or at least in their correct place. The way the whole site is arranged in the folder created by iWeb should look EXACTLY like the same when you put it up via Cyberduck, folder structure and all.

For example, when I go to your site, the larger rectangle with the question mark is trying to find an image located at /Welcome_files/photo1.png which means that as you look at your site's files with Cyberduck, you should see your welcome.html file, as well as a folder called Welcome_files. And inside of that folder should be an image called photo1.png, along with the other images on that page. Make sense? The images not only have to be on your website, but they have to be there in the folders that iWeb put them in.

Make sense? Good luck.

Thanks again! I got if figured out, finally. I had only uploaded the html files, not the full folder. Once I did that, everything worked perfect. You can check it out if you'd like. I'm quite proud of it. (It's for my husband, in case you wonder if you do look at it.) I'm still adding more to it, but this is a great start.

Thanks again!

Looks great. That kind of racing is very difficult and I have no end of respect for it.

Congratulations!

Alright, I've managed to goof something up. My links to the different pages are acting strange, i.e. changing depending on which page I'm on.

I'm deleting everything from cyberduck and re uploading it. I can't get the synchronization to work to save my life.

All the links are working for me, staying the same across all pages. Looks like whatever you did worked out. You've got a good amount of content up there for such a short amount of time. Keep up the good work!

All was going well until my hubby wanted to add a results page. Now my links are all goofy again. If you go to the welcome page, you can see the links are off. The same goes for the 2009 Schedule page. Once you get to the pushing the limits page, it changes to what it is supposed to be. The part that I don't understand is I can go to the welcome.html file in finder and open it and it shows up how it is supposed to. I've tried deleting and re-uploading it multiple times, now. I'm lost.
