iWeb: transferring previous site

Dear Macosx,

I want to transfer my iWeb site from my desktop mac to my laptop. I backed up everything from my desktop G4 onto an external HD, and from that, copied all the data in my User Folder/Sites into the same folder on my laptop.

Then, on the old profile i went into User/Library/Application Support/iWeb and copied that to the same place on the new profile.

I restarted and opened iweb, but it seems to still be the old website. What's more, when i try to save changes it tells me i don't have permission! The external HD is turned off, so i don't think it could be reading from that.

I checked permissions in the folder "Sites" and it says i have read & write access. I'm confused. If it's my folder in my profile i copied the info to... i wouldn't think Mac OS X would have an issue with me saving to it. Maybe it's trying to save to the wrong location?

Hi!

First thing: DO NOT delete anything on your G4 yet!
iWeb is/was (depending on the version) a little un-Mac. Why - like in other programs - can't we save a project to use on another Mac or to simply back it up?

I found a great tool for it:

It did the trick for me. I make fast and simple websites for non-profit organisations in iWeb and want to be able to seperate them. Unfortunately it is not free; it costs about $20. But I spent it happily

I am just in the progress of updating to 10.5 and iLife'09. I think I understand that the iWeb of iLife'09 now has that functionality. So if you think about upgrading, buying Multisite would be a waste.

Hello again,

Sitting at my BigMac® now, I tried the new iWeb (v3.0) as part of iLife'09. But no, it can also NOT save a project to use on another Mac or to back up.
I am not sure if the 2 links I gave you before are already up-to-date to work with this new iWeb.
I just asked in an email if Multisite will work with iWeb'09. When I know that, I'll post it here.
