Jaguar boot problems

Hi all

My iMac with Jaguar doesn't boot at all in normal mode. If I go into "verbose mode" with Command-V, the first error message appears right after init starting up. It says:

===
(ipc/send) invalid destination port: initCGDisplayState: cannot map display interlocks
kCGErrorFailure: CGSNewConnection cannot connect to server
INIT_Processeses(), could not establish the default connection the the WindowServer./etc/rc.boot: line 1: 11 Abort trap
open
key:
===

Line 1 of /etc/rc.boot consists of #!/bin/sh like it probably should be.

Then if i press return the boot process goes on. Later on similar messages pop up, some with the same "key:" kind of prompt, and if I press return it goes on and eventually boots up like it used to. At some point it also says "remove: command not found" though there's no "remove" command in the script mentioned.

Oh and I recently installed XDarwin.

Already cleared the PRAM and checked the disk.

Thanks for any ideas

Hi Loik and welcome to the forum.
Does "checked the disk" also include repairing permissions? If not, I would give it a try

I suggest you use Disk Warrior or Drive 10, boot from the CD and have it repair the drive. It will automatically check all files and repair them.

umm... are you suggesting that i should buy software (disk warrior, disk 10) just to fix problems with other software i bought?

any other tips? ...
