Have just upgraded iBook from 10.1.5 to 10.2 after which my ISDN dial-up router running NAT & DHCP started staying connected whenever my iBook was awake.
Router log revealed iBook was requesting the address 10.0.1.1 approx. every 5 seconds. My own internal network range is 10.0.10.1 and I can find no reference anywhere to the rogue address. After hours of disabling options and killing processes, it turns out that the problem occurs as soon as I activate Airport in the Network preferences.
There is no Airport network in my office, my iBook is connected to my router via ethernet and the Airport settings are set to DHCP and none of the fields were filled in.
How can Airport being turned on cause a request to the router over ethernet?
I normally leave Airport active because I visit Airport equipped offices every week and this worked fine before Jaguar.
Anyone else experienced a similar problem?
