Jaguar starting with CD in drive problematic

Hi all, I've just upgraded to 10.2, then 10.2.3. Now if I start my G4 with a CD in the drive, the Mac starts okay but then no applications work (checking them on the Dock says "Application not responding". If I insert CD's after start up, everything is okay though. Any ideas? Ta.

what cds have you had in your drive when booting up? Is it a system disk, audio cd, data cd? Some new audio cds have caused problems because of trying new copy protections. Also which drive is it, is it a dvd-r or a cd-rw?

The CD I had in the drive at the time was Baldur's Gate II CD 2 (game disk). I have a plain old CD ROM drive.

Do you have the problem with other disks in the drive? Test it with a different disk and see if you still have the same issue or if its just particular to that disk. If its just with that disk it might be something that your system is trying to access which confuses it. Best of luck...

Hi Bad Co, That Baldur's Gate II CD was causing the problem. All other CD's are fine in my Mac while starting up. Thanks for you help!
