Japanese characters?

Can anybody tell me just what this is? Mozilla crashed on me and then I noticed the smaller window near the bottom right corner of my screen (although I don't know if the two are related -- the window could have been there before Mozilla crashed). When I clicked on the button beneath the "blued" kanji (?) character the larger window opened. Clicking on any of the other icons in the small window did nothing and the only "button" that did anything when I clicked it was the "?" icon in the top right corner of the large window. It opened up the Help viewer/app, but it was all in Japanese/Chinese/whatever. Any help out there? Thanks.

you probably have the japnese keyboard enabled, and somehow it kicked into action, thus you saw those two windows. They are quite standard...if you want to type in japanese that is
