The latest version of Mac OS X is 10.3.8

Click the blue Apple in the upper left corner of your screen and select "Software Update..."

I noticed at this link: http://macupdate.com/info.php/id/13295 - under requirements it says "Requires Mac OS X 10.3.4 or later".

I hope this helps. Another expert may come along in correct me, but i've had this problem on my iMac G3 that I got not to long ago.

Thanks. The mac is a school computer so the IT guys control it (or I do without them knowing, because I know more about macs than they do) and java 1.4.2 is already in there. Ive tryed to update but the school proxy is verry strict. Java 1.3.1 is also in there so how could I tell my web browser to use that version?
