Junk mail in Entourage

Entourage does not identify junk email at all. Even on the highest setting where only messages from the address book are meant to be accepted the most obvious junk is not identified.

I am sure I have missed something obvious, but I seem to have tried most things including reloading Entourage.

I am usingMac OSX version 10.3.9, Entourage 2004, version 11.2.1

Any advice?

Mail's spam filter seems to work by magic and is teachable. The spam filter in Entourage 2004 relies on level settings over which the user has no control. The Microsoft product conceals messages that have been flagged as spam. Due to its large percentage of false positives, I was forced to delete my Entourage account containing spam filters and replacing it with one with none. If you insist on using Entourage 2004, you are better off manually deleting any spam that you receive.

I thought that I read that better spam handling was going to be part of the March 06 update to Entourage, where Spotlight support will also be added.

My problem is that the filter, on all settings, does nothing at all. I do delete all spam manually, but the number of them is increasing :(

I stated here that Entourage 2004 is a really bad application. Your troubles only reinforce my view. Unfortunately, I am forced to use this Microsoft POS to handle my account on my firm's Exchange server. Before the server was "updated," Mail was the better choice. My advice to anyone who can, use Mail or some other mail client. Lest there be any doubt, Mail's spam filter works beautifully. There are third-party filters that help, if you prefer a different client. Why suffer Entourage 2004?

Its a work thing with me, it is what I am expected to use. Outlook on my PC works fine and the spam filter works OK.
I have Mail so perhaps I had better use that.

I have about 20 POP3 email accounts that I gather mail from on a daily basis. I have rules set up in Entourage for each of the accounts. When a message comes in that has been sent to a specific address, it that message is placed into a specific folder that I created. Though I think that Smart Mailboxes is a great idea, I do not want to use it for this.

Given what I do, can Mail work for me? Can I collect mail from all these addresses and send it to a specified mail folder, or copy it to multiple folders?

Mail can do exactly what you claim you require Entourage to do. It is just that you have inexplicably rejected Mail's method in preference to Entourage's method. To each his own.
