ok, tonight i've had 2 power outages at my home. both times i was online to this site. the first time i powered back up, all went fine with all my disks being checked and repaired. the second one hung up at the smiley mac face upon power up.

both times my mouse (wacom graphire2) stopped working.

how should i have fixed these? or what did i do to fix these as i am now typing this on the same computer?

good question... if it froze at start up it might have been checking the disks already, fixed something, but stumbled on something else.. dunno

ive had this before where a computer freezes on startup, then doesnt the next time... i say do a disk check and a file system check, but thats all i know :)

btw how much did the tablet cost? been looking into getting one sometime...

i got my wacom for $89 about a year ago, on sale at Fry's. I didn't even take it out of the box and start using it until about feb or march because i thought it was just a drawing tablet. i didn't realize it doubled as a cool set of mice - works one way with the pen and another with the 3-button scrollwheel mouse. I admit, i used to rag on people who whined about multibutton and scrollwheel support until i tried this thing. it changed the way i use the computer. and while the pen doesn't scroll, it does have 2 buttons and is a really nice break for the wrist and carple tunnel. oh, did i mention you can draw stuff with it too? :D

back to the quiz - to be more specific, how do i go about getting to checking the disks, etc. from my stalled screen? and what about that frozen mouse, how am i gonna get anything to work if i can't move my cursor?

btw - i think it would be great if others add their quizes for problems they have fixed, especially the kinds that are somewhat common but tend to freak out newbies and switchers.
