JVC gr-dvl 167eg or gr-dvl920 on Mac?

My cousin is thinking about getting a Mac.

I know her printer and digicam will work (I have the same digicam than she), but she wants to know if her digi videocam will work, it's a JVC gr-dvl 167eg.

I did not see that listed on http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=113546 or http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=75351. Do any of you guys know if that model works with a mac? It is crucial... ::alien::

Oh, I think I just switched her. http://www.digit-all-cameras.com/products/prod_B00005YWDW.html says it runs in OS X.

Apple probably doesn't test every available cam. The one you mentioned, the JVC gr-dvl 167eg, seems to be an Asian market unit, has DV output through i.LINK, which may or may not be workable, (some Sony cams refuse to connect to a Mac, as i.LINK appears to add some properties to the main IEEE-1394 FireWire spec).

That may not mean anything if the cam works. Does your sister know anyone with a Mac where she could hook to cam up and test it?
An Apple dealer should be able to test it for her (not everyone has a local store )


Hopefully, someone will have some real experience, but with a (hopefully) compatible FireWire interface, and DV output, what's needed is just a test.

No, they can't be accessible only outside US. I am in US, and she isn't, and at least we both saw them. Hm, odd.

I've been experimenting with my ethernet settings trying to make it 'better', serves me right. Reset back to defaults, and the sites all load. My bad!
