Hey !

i have PB G3/266 connected to asante 10 base-t ethernet hub. every time i restart my mac the network settings keeps on defaulting to internal modem instaed of Built-in-ethernet & also my filesharing keeps on turning off. ..

is this a wall street PB problem or what as i am getting fed up of having to do it manually all the time .

i am running macOSX 10.1.5

any ideas ???

thanks

If you do not want to use the modem at all in the network prefernce pane, click on show, then choose "active network ports" in there you can uncheck the modem, and the computer will not use it

i have the SAME mysteriously changing network preferences with my iBook 700 running 10.1.5- i change the settings- click apply now- then- sure enough, when i open sys-prefs again- it's right back to internal modem...
I'm on my 4th (4th!!!) defective Apple portable this year and now i'm being screwed around big-time by apple in terms of repair & support- I can't believe i'm even saying it , but i'm begining to think of looking at PC's!!!

thanks that has worked likea treat, however now another prob, why does my file sharing keeps turning it self off everytime i reboot i have to turn it on again in the netowrk pref .

thanks

Wouldn't another fix for the problem be to simply move built in ethernet above the modem to give it priority in active network ports?
