Oh boy, where do I start...

A new hard drive installed in my 2003 iBook 16/32 vram 800mhz, all looking good until there were strange slow downs, hangs. I ran Onyx, which has always helped and then, since this is a dual boot, I ran Diskwarrior, previous saviour.

Then: The listed apps would begin to load, then stop, announce they had quit, and no harm had been done to finder or system. Since appleworks and my html editor are among them I can't post the full list of damage on my own site so have to use a large block of text here, for which apologies. Everything else seems untouched.

The list is a combination of the messages written to crash log and the message out of console, then the disk utilities log from verifying & fixing permisssions, while the very last one is from an attempt to verify the disk from my OSX install disc, which quite obviously went badly wrong.

--------------------------------

By the by, I installed 'Jack,' a music in/out fake server, but never ran it (as far as I remember)

Another strange thing is that using a finder window, anytime I navigate by keys to a file (of any kind) created by the 'bad apps' the window blips shut, I get a plain screen before it all pops back into place -minus the finder window I opened to get to where I got in trouble.

I am going to reformat the drive, zero it and freshly instal tiger, but is that enough or is the light at the end of the tunnel merely a huge bill or a new computer coming to run me over?

I'm sorry about the length of this.
