Kernel panic error

I have a white macbook not quite sure of OS think 10.4.2, it was bought mid 2006 so not sure if this matches. Am at work so can't check right now.
The last couple of days keep getting the kernel error as i turn on the computer and sometimes it turns back on straight away, sometimes if remove battery and replace then it works but generally it just keeps repeating the same error.

I have never added any RAM or anything, the only thing i can think is someone downloaded TVUplayer onto my mac the other day so it came up on the desktop .exe and then couldn't be opened obviously and was put in the trashcan.
Do you have any idea where the error would be if it is always at startup?
Thank you

Home from work the computer is Mac OSX 10.4.11 1.83 GHz intel 512 MB 667MHz
Took many attempts to turn on computer with kernel panic message coming on over and over again, finally am on this computer. No panic logs as it happens as it is starting up, please can someone explain what is happening.
Many Thanks

When you are at your Mac, search for a file called panic.log.
That will contain the kernel panics, and will be helpful in understanding why the KP happesn for you. It can be either software or hardware...

Thank you for your help but there is no record of the recent ones in panic.log, i think this is because the error appears straight after the computer is turned on just after the grey screen with the apple symbol. No pinwheel appears. Then the error message pops up.
Does this sound familar to anyone???

Hm.
How far can you boot it up? The apple logo and pinwheel for 30 seconds, then the shutdown request?
Will safe boot succeed better? (holding down shift key at startup)

no generally shutdown request straight after logo and before pinwheel.
But every so often can get past it and onto computer.
