keyboard layouts

hello - I use an Irish Gaelic font and DESPERATELY need to install US System 6 keyboard layout on OS X 10.0.4 in order to use all the accent marks, but cannot drop the keyboard layout into the keyboards folder in the system library. I've put a copy of it in the keyboards folder in the users folder but it does not show up in the list.

Any ideas?
 
you can't copy it into system's keyboard folder cus u don't have permissions, right?

there's 2 ways to do it:

1. ctrl-click on the keyboards folder and select get info. Set yourself to owner of the folder, drag the file in and set owner back to system

2. Open up your terminal and type "sudo cp /path/keyboard_layout_file '/library/keyboard layouts/keyboard_layout_file'"
change the path to your appropriate location on disk. This will copy the file with root privilages. You have to type in your password to do this after u type in the command
