Keyboard Question

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I have to ask. I've looked all on the keyboard and couldn't find it but I may have overlooked it. Is there a key that is similar to the "Del" key (small square key to the right of the main "Delete" button) on an iMac keyboard on the PowerBook? Whenever I'm typing and my cursor is in front of what I want to delete, I always have to click the right arrow until I get past what I want to delete, then click the delete key. I would rather not have to double click and avoid having to click the right arrow. Hopefully this makes sense! :)

no, on a powerbook it's:
fn+delete = forward delete
option+delete = delete the entire word before the insertion point
you probably guessed it but fn+option+delete = delete the word in front of the insertion point

Aw geez *slaps head* I don't believe it. I pressed control+delete and it did the same as normal delete. And for some reason I thought "wow, that's different".
You're right, it's fn+delete

Thanks for the info. I also noticed that pressing SHIFT and DELETE will start deleting characters after the cursor.

do a simple test for me will you?

try just pushing the delete key, then try pushing the delete key with SHIFT held down.

Spot the difference, its pretty subtle, very subtle, infact if you can tell the difference you're probably looking too hard! :D

Well shift delete works in BBEdit which is what I use most of the time, but it doesn't work in anything else. Bummer :( It's easier to click since it's a bigger key than fn.

I've never used forward-delete because I didn't really know about it. I knew it existed, but I guess it never 'clicked'. I must change that... :)
