Just type

alt + brightness+/- key
will open the monitor panel
------------------
alt + volume up/down key
will open the Sound panel
 
that s a neat trick. i didn t know that one. although the option+F15 (brightness key) didn t work for me, option+volume did.
 
its not a CRT display, its an LCD, but you re right, it is a powermac, not a powerbook, so it has the apple pro keyboard, which means no brightness keys. i guess the powerbook has designated brightness keys? with this keyboard F14 and F15 control brightness.
 
I think you're right !!
Pluggin and Apple Pro Keyboard on my Powerbook the trick doesn't work !!
