Hello everyone.

I'm on a 12" iBook G3.

Since yesterday, occasionally certain sectiosn of my keyboard are unresponsive. For example the "m" and "j" key won't work...

To fix it, I just lifted up the keyboard, and kinda felt up the back... literally that's sall I did, kinda dusted or something, but really... I didn't do much... and when I closed the keyboard again the key started working.

Has anyone experienced this before, or have an idea of what might be the cause?

Thanks cya!

I suspect that your keyboard is failing. The missing characters are basically in a vertical row (m, j, u) which can mean that the hardware line to that row is defective. You can certainly use any USB keyboard to check for software issues, but likely the keyboard just has to be replaced. You can reseating the keyboard in it's connector (pop up the keyboard, remove an airport card, if you have one, remove the 2 little screws and pull up the small plate covering the RAM slot. The keyboard plugs in next to the memory slot, and can easily be disconnected, and then pushed back in.) Might help, but usually the keyboard is just bad.

THanks delta mac!

Hey funny thing is.. now it works. I suspect it'll get weird again... I'll try your tip if it does!
