just out of curiosity; what kind of software is used to create something like that?

That's a good ad, but it's been around a while.

A very very cool ad! He should go into marketing.

Alex, he probably (note PROBABLY) used a combination of the following:
Either Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere
Either Motion or Adobe After Effects w/ Plugins
3DSMAX
Adobe Photoshop
and maybe some stuff like Digital Juice or something like that. Possibly Adobe Illustrator for some Vector drawing? Dunno. Email him I guess!
