Lacie 500gb Hd Wont Mount !!! Help

How do I get this drive to mount to remove the media so i can reformat it?



Help!! I have the problem big time. I ve had this unmounting issue to an extreme. if i even touch either firewire 400/800 on my lacie 500 hd it unmounts then delivers a critcal message of bad mounting errors. disk uttilty is worthless, can't mount the drive but sees it.

there were some serious permissin problem happening the last few months. i began loosing my media files and it started to lost music mp3s then 40 gigs of music (the whole library GONE)
I tried to warrior it it seemed to repair most things but the music gone.

Then my FCP scatch disks began to disappear along with apps,
pathfinder show some of them but disappear when i trying opening them.


Main Problem now.

---- I installed imovie 5 HD, Idvd, Iphohto5 today and two hours later my drive wont mount! #$%@ Of coarse I am in the middle of a huge video editing project due monday and need to mount this drive!!!!

about to do a system restore of apple disks but scares of losing files on my internal drive. ive done a back up of file except system files.
should i back up those too? plugins? bookmarks?

I would really appreciate any help here.

For some, replacing the power cord with a better one (assuming LaCie doesn't use a proprietary power cord config) helped.

Others tried mounting via FireWire 400, then the drive would mount on the FireWire 800 bus afterwards, until it exhibited the problems again. I would try the power cord fix and see if that helps.
