I have a new macbook(got it for Christmas) with OSX leaopard on it, i think it's meant to have 80gb memory but i only have about 2gb of things saved to my HD, and only have 49.33 gb available. Is this a problem or do some macs come with only 50gb?

No, it seems about right. I bet you have not only OS X 10.5, but also other programs that come with macbook, like iwork, some demo programs etc. Even if you have use 2GB, the system and programs take some.

Also you have to remember that OSs and disk manufactures count disk capacity differently. So when the disk is 80GB, it contains 80.000.000.000 bytes, but whe nOS talks about 80GB, it means 85899345920 (80 * 2^30) bytes. You have to realize, that neither is right or wrong, they are only different ways.
