I'm helping a use who recently bought a laserjet 2200D. It is connected to his G4 Quicksilver via USB. He has MacOS X 10.1.2 and 9.2.2.
If he boots into 9, he can print with no problems.
If he boots into X, he can print with no problems.
If he starts the Classic environment within X, he can print from Classic apps, but not X native apps. Sometimes print center gives a generic error before the job is sent to the printer. Sometimes the job gets sent to the printer, and the data light on the printer flashes, but the job never gets printed (even after 4-5 minutes). The behavior seems to be random (i.e., it gives an error half the time, and sends the job half the time, with no apparent pattern).
Is anyone else having a similar experience? I've searched the HP website, the Apple website, the Press 3 forums, and the web in general with Google, and couldn't find anything related.
Right now he's getting by saving files from X apps as PDF, and then printing them with Classic Acrobat, but he would like to avoid this hassle if possible.
